UNO students see excitement for STEM areas growing, thanks to community chairs
Many moments of ... Eureka! That’s what you’d see looking through the eyes of three bright students at UNO: Dylan, Tyler and Katie. The three study in areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Through their eyes, you’d see:
• A young man failing Calc. II but then turning it around, thanks to an innovative way of learning, and now loving Calc. III.
• A middle-school girl from a disadvantaged area who, after touring the new anatomy lab, now is considering UNO on her way to becoming a doctor. (You’d see lots of talented girls like her who come to UNO each summer for the hand-on EUREKA!-STEM enrichment camp, and who now see themselves in STEM careers.)
• A STEM community growing on campus and stemming out into Omaha, thanks to a star team of professors — the four STEM community chairs — who are leading the way.

UNO students serve others.
Let's return the favor.
For many college students, spring break often means beaches and sunburns at some warm-weather destination. But UNO students are Mavericks, and in Omaha, spring break takes on a little more meaning. For the 13th consecutive year, more than 1,500 UNO students, faculty and staff volunteered their Spring Break through Seven Days of Service, helping dozens of Omaha-area groups like the Open Door Mission, Youth Emergency Services and more. Since the program’s start, UNO volunteers have contributed more than $1 million in service hours! Will you help us give back to UNO’s students with a gift of $25 today?

Leaders of the University of Nebraska and First Data Corp. in Omaha announced March 31 that the university, using private funds, has acquired the First Data office building at 6902 Pine St., which is adjacent to UNO’s Pacific Street Campus. The acquisition will allow for strategic program growth and collaborations in areas important to the state. The 194,000 square-foot building will accommodate program growth in areas that represent key strengths for UNO. Additionally, the space could open new opportunities for collaborative partnerships with industry, including First Data, or other entities in Omaha and beyond. Learn more
