Marlin Briscoe plays his first game for the Denver Broncos, entering play against the Boston Patriots after an injury to starter Jim LeClair. Briscoe finished 2 of 6 passing for 43 yards and ran five times for 51 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown, but Denver lost 20-17. Briscoe would start the next week agaisnt Cincinnati, becoming pro football’s first black starting quarterback.
