Native Omaha Days UNO Alumni Reception

In November 1969, the activism and personal sacrifices of the Omaha 54 students played a pivotal role in the creation of the UNO Department of Black Studies. This year marks 56 years since the arrest of the student protestors. UNO and OU alumni and friends are invited to this special reception to recognize them during Native Omaha Days, North Omaha’s week-long biennial celebration of culture and community.

This all-ages event held in UNO Criss Library’s 1st floor garden includes recognition of the Omaha 54, historic exhibits, refreshments and special remarks from UNO Alumni Association Board Chair, Negil McPherson Jr.
