The Citation, inaugurated in 1949, is presented at each UNO commencement. The UNO Alumni Association’s highest honor encompasses career achievement, community service, involvement in business and professional associations, and fidelity to the university.

Citation for Alumni Achievement Award 2024 Recipients

Reg Chapman 

Reg Chapman joined WCCO-TV as a reporter in May of 2009. He came to WCCO from WNBC-TV in New York City where he covered an array of stories for the station including the Coney Island plane crash, the crane collapse on the city’s east side and 50 shots fired at motorist Sean Bell by New York Police.

Prior to that, Reg was a crime beat reporter at KSTP-TV in Minneapolis. He also reported at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he covered the crash of Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001. Before that, Reg was a report-er/anchor for WHIO-TV in Dayton, Ohio, WOWT-TV in Omaha, Neb., and KTIV-TV in Sioux City, lowa.

A Gulf War veteran and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Reg graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he earned a bachelor of science degree in broadcast journalism.

Reg has received the Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting, several Associated Press awards, honors from the Society of Professional Journalists and the YMCA honored him as a Black Achiever. He was also selected as one of Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest for his work in the community and is a member of the local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Jennifer Hamann

Jennifer Hamann became executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of Union Pacific on Jan. 1, 2020. She is responsible for managing all facets of Union Pacific’s financial activities, controls and policies including accounting, tax, real estate, investor relations, treasury, audit, and capital planning. As CFO, Hamann also serves on the Grupo Ferroviario Mexicano and TTX Company boards of directors.

Hamann began her Union Pacific career in 1992 as a member of the corporation’s audit staff. In 1998, she moved to the railroad’s Human Resources Department, holding various management positions. Hamann joined the Corporate Treasury group in April 2002, when she was named assistant vice president-Investor Relations. In April 2011, she was named general auditor of the Corporate Audit staff. Hamann moved to Marketing and Sales as vice president and general manager-Automotive in February 2016, a position she maintained until returning to Finance as vice president-Planning and Analysis in October 2017. She was named senior vice president-Finance in April 2019.

Prior to joining Union Pacific, Hamann received an MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). She also has fulfilled the requirements and examinations necessary to receive a Certified Public Accountant certificate.

In addition to her duties at Union Pacific, Hamann serves as the executive sponsor of Union Pacific’s LEAD (Lead, Educate, Achieve, Develop) women’s initiative and is a member of its executive advisory council. She is a member of Steel Dynamic’s Board of Directors and Audit committee. She is on the Board of Directors for the Omaha Performing Arts Society Foundation Board and The College World Series of Omaha, Inc.
