UNO Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination

A joint venture of the UNO Alumni Association and Omaha Athletics, the UNO Athletic Hall of Fame began in 1975 to recognize former athletes, coaches, administrators and others who have made lasting contributions to Maverick Athletics.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Athletes (must meet all criteria in this category)

  • Must be 10 years removed from completing athletic eligibility. The “10 years removed” requirement can be waived, for extenuating circumstances, by a unanimous vote of the Hall of Fame Executive Committee.
  • Must have played a minimum of two seasons at UNO
  • One or more of the following: All-American, All-District/Region, All-Conference, UNO Athlete of the Year; established record at UNO.
  • Graduate of UNO or has completed 60+ credit hours
  • An exception can be made for a former Student–Athlete who did not graduate due to a need to transfer to finish their degree in a particular field not offered by UNO (e.g., nursing).

Nominees shall have separated from the college/university in a position of good standing.  This shall be defined, but not limited to: nominees considered for membership in the University of Nebraska at Omaha Athletic Hall of Fame shall have demonstrated the highest standards of personal/professional character and morals during their time at the university.  These same standards shall be present at the time of their selection. 

Coaches (must meet all criteria in this category) 

  • Career accomplishments at the University of Nebraska at Omaha
  • Overall contribution to UNO Athletic Department: Conference Championships, Graduation rates
  • Must be five years removed from coaching at UNO. Requirement can be waived, for extenuating circumstances, by a unanimous vote of Hall of Fame Executive Committee.
  • Left UNO in good standing
  • Must not be currently employed in the same position for which they are being nominated
  • Administrators (must meet one or more criteria in this category)
  • Accomplishments in promoting and supporting Omaha Athletics
  • Volunteer work, donations, fundraising
  • Left UNO in good standing
