MIKE MORAN
In stadiums around the world, from Sarajevo to Seoul, Mike Moran was witness to some of the most iconic moments of nearly a dozen Olympic Games — from the highs to the lows. There was the “Miracle on Ice” when the U.S. hockey team upset the Soviets in Lake Placid, perhaps the pinnacle of American Olympic achievement. Then there was the Tonya Harding-Nancy Kerrigan Affair, “One of the lowest Olympic experiences I’ve ever had,” Moran once said. The 1966 UNO graduate watched it all — and sometimes managed it — as chief spokesman for the United States Olympic Committee from 1978- 2003. His Olympic posts came after time as sports information director at UNO, then the University of Colorado. He’s still active in the field, today as senior media consultant for the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.
