Catering and Rental Policies

These policies apply to groups reserving the Entire Facility, Bootstrapper Hall or Centennial Hall in the Thompson Center at UNO. Other policies are in effect when reserving smaller rooms or sections of larger rooms (when permitted). See Brandeis Catering or Thompson Center management for complete details. These policies do not apply to UNO colleges and departments.

All minimums calculated before 20% service charge and 7% sales tax. See the catering menu for selections and prices. Bar service is available but is not included or required.

Saturday Night Rental Requirements

May 1 through Sept. 30
1. Entire Facility rental, AND
2. Minimum expenditure per guest of $16.95, AND
3. Minimum of $3,000 overall food expenditure.

Examples — $3,000 is equivalent to:
• A traditional dinner buffet ($20.95) for 143 guests.
• Hors d’oeuvres Buffet #3 ($16.95) for 177 guests.
• A plated entrée ($24.95) for 120 guests.

Other Saturday & Friday Night Rental Requirements
(Saturday mornings/afternoons, Oct. through April evenings

1. Catering minimums apply when renting the entire facility or individual ballrooms.
• Minimum $800 if reserving Bootstrapper or Centennial Hall only (when permitted).
• Minimum $1,500 if reserving the entire facility (when hosting at least 120 guests).
• For events beginning at 4 p.m. or later on Friday or Saturday, the minimum expenditure per guest is $13.95.(Hors D’oeuvres Menu #2)

Example — $800 is equivalent to:
• A $20 meal for 40 guests.
• A $12 meal for 67 guests
• A $10 meal for 80 guests (for events ending by 4 p.m.)


Example — $1,500 is equivalent to:
• A $20 meal for 75 guests.
• A $12 meal for 125 guests.
• A $10 meal for 150 guests (for events ending by 4 p.m.)

2. Entire facility rental is not required on Saturday during the day (if event ends by 4 p.m.) or on Friday nights.
3. Room rental is discounted 40% when renting the entire facility on Friday nights.
4. Clients may not rent the entire facility on Friday nights or on non-peak Saturdays unless 120 guests or more are guaranteed. If there are fewer than 120 guests clients must choose Bootstrapper Hall or Centennial Hall.
5. There is no room rental discount on Friday night if there are fewer than 120 guests.
6. There is no room rental discount for Saturday morning or afternoon events.
7. Events ending by 4 p.m. may use the lunch menu.

Sunday Rentals
1. There are no minimum catering requirements on Sundays; however, additional fees may apply.
2. All room rental rates are discounted 50% regardless of the size of group or rooms chosen.
3. Items may be chosen a la carte from the menu; however, if a certain level of spending is not met there might be linen or staffing fees (at the discretion of Brandeis Catering).

Weekday Rentals
1. Room rental rates Monday-Thursday are less than regular weekend rates but are not discounted 50%.
2. No guest minimum is required. Items may be chosen a la carte from the menu; however, if a certain level of spending is not met there might be linen or staffing fees (at discretion of Brandeis Catering).

Other policies and information
1. If no catering is contracted, tablecloths and skirting are not provided. Clients must communicate room arrangement instructions to the Thompson Center manager and additional charges will be applied if table cloths are needed.
2. To qualify for the 50% room rental discount for the entire facility on Friday nights, clients must guarantee at least 120 guests. If the 120-guest minimum is not guaranteed, clients may rent individual rooms at regular room rates. Other clients might be using the building simultaneously, but an effort will be made to avoid scheduling two wedding receptions at the same time.
3. At least $5 per person must be spent on food during events at which alcohol is served.
4. There is a 3-hour minimum on all weekend room rentals.
5. Some catering minimums may be reduced or waived if clients reserve space for an event occurring 45 days or less from the event date.
