April 22, 1952
Classes canceled as 1,000 OU students contribute 60,000 man hours to fighting flooding along the Missouri River.

April 27, 1939

Classes canceled so students can perform in and attend parades and exhibits for Golden Spike Days marking 70th anniversary of the first transcontinental railroad's completion.

Tribute to the Fallen
The UNO College Democrats hosted its sixth annual Tribue to the Fallen, a nonpartisan outdoor display honoring U.S. servicemen who have died fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The event included the planting of flags to represent each deceased serviceman and a reading of each serviceman's name, rank, age and branch of service. Read more.

UNO ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Association honors nine faculty
with Oustanding Teaching Award

The UNO Alumni Assocation celebrated the 15th year of its Alumni Oustanding Teaching Awards program when it presented the honor to nine faculty members during the UNO Faculty Honors Convocation breakfast April 7. With the awards the Associaiton now has issued $131,000 in AOTAs since 1997.  Read more.

UNO Athletics has undergone a makeover. The department on March 31 introduced three new logos — an "O," a new bullhead and a combination of the "O" and text. Read more.

 

26th Women's Walk
slated for April 29-30

The UNO Diet Pepsi Women’s Walk Festival will host its 26th annual event on Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30. The Mavericks will host a variety of vendors and seminars in the Sapp Fieldhouse. Special guests include Carly Patterson, a US Olympic Gold Medalist in Gymnastics.  Read more.
